It's been a couple of weeks since I last wrote,
so please forgive me, as I have been a bit busy.
Tracy is doing GREAT! Since the last blog
a lot has happened, so I think I will just give you a running list of
accomplishments.
- Went to church
- Drew turned 17!
- We all, yes I said all, went out for Drew's Birthday
dinner.
- Tracy is walking exceptionally well with the aid of a
walker.
- They have steps in the gym and Tracy has mastered all 4
of them, even doing them 4 times consecutively for a total of 16.
That's both up and down!
- Her memory continues to improve, the short term is a
little slower than the long-term
- We have completed all 4 of the 4 weekly Rituxan
treatments and now will only do them every 3 months
- We have completed another round of IVIG treatments with
me driving Tracy to them every afternoon
- We went out to dinner 3 nights this last week
- Tracy had a visit from Murphy
- She has had many guests
- Built puzzles and played more solitaire in the last
week than we had previously played in our life
| Re-United after 5 months! |
These highlights are
quite amazing but doing things as a family again is definitely one of the
highlights. As I look back at this journey I am so thankful that Drew got
to spend another birthday with his mother, on April 26th, I got to celebrate 22
years of knowing Tracy and then just this last week we got to celebrate 21
years of marriage! And to think that 4 months ago I had no idea whether I
would have a wife that would even know I was her husband or let alone have her
to celebrate it with. God has blessed our family so much!
Tomorrow we go to Ann
Arbor for Tracy's follow up at UM. They are going to be so surprised!
I have discontinued
the Take them a meal website as we try to eat as a family every night and
transferring the meals from home to here at Heartland would be very difficult.
Again, Thank you to all of you who have provided meals
and/or money to purchase meals, you have truly been a blessing to us.
Thanks also to all of you who donated nights at the Med Inn for me, you
covered almost 3 of the 4 months we were there!
Now for the whining.
Please pray for Tracy's memory and comprehension, as she doesn't
understand why she is at Heartland. She also wants so desperately to be
independent and does not want to call for nurses to monitor her movements from
bed to walker or wheelchair to go to the bathroom. Drew and I worry about
the possibility of her falling and extending her recovery. She refuses to
listen to us, thinking that we are crazy and difficult. Drew and I
thought we had learned to be patient while we were at UM, but are now having
to take to a whole new level. Please pray for patience for us and Tracy
as we struggle with these issues.
I will try to update
every other day or so with a few sentences as I am finding it more difficult to
blog regularly. While we were at the U of M I would blog at night before
I went to bed. Currently I spend approximately 12 hours a day with Tracy,
then try to spend time with Drew before we go to bed and take care of things
around the house in between.
God Bless and
"Never Give Up... Never Ever Give Up!"
Rob
Sooooo happy to hear all of the great news Rob!! We continue to pray for you all and I will add in the gift of patience to my prayers! You are amazing! God Bless you all.....
