Treatments 20 & 21

Well, I flunked medical school!  1.5mg 4Q was the correct dosage for Tracy’s Ativan last week and still this week.  In case you didn’t notice we went from three treatments a week per week, to two per week and yesterday was treatment 21.

Let me go back a few days.

Last week my brother Ron came up to see Tracy and I, and ended up getting to see Drew too!  The Indiana Hoosiers Basketball team was in town to play the University of Michigan and me being a huge IU fan said that I was going to go whether anyone else went with me or not.  Ron said that he didn’t want me to go by myself, so he would come up for the night and see Tracy and I.  Well he came up and Drew came out with Jerry Hines (one of our pastors and closest friends).  And we had a great time, it would have been better if IU had played basketball for the first 10 minutes, but they didn’t and lost by 10 I think.  But it was a great comeback! Thanks Jerry for being Drew’s taxi.

Ron was so impressed with Trace’s progress that he stayed an extra night.  Boy was I glad he did!

Friday was to be treatment 20 and I was a mess.  Tracy had not been improving as quickly has she had been and was a bit discouraged, even though my brother was encouraged.

I also have not been sleeping well because of my head spinning so much from all the information and I continually second guess myself too much, because of all I read and hear from others.  I think the lack of sleep and having family here with me caused me to let my guard down and then I got sucker punched.

I didn’t know what to do Friday morning; luckily my brother was here to carry me.  I am so glad he was here to pick me up and carry me that morning.  Tracy’s treatment went well, and Ron and I got a lot of fresh air, as we walked to lunch, only to take a call from one of the doctors who had heard about how I was struggling that morning.  So we returned to meet with two of Tracy’s doctors.  They were great they talked us through all of our concerns and made me feel better.

Ron and I left the meeting and headed back to Angelo’s for lunch.  A little advertising here, The hostess remembered that we had just been there and hour and half earlier and immediately sat us back at the same table we were at before, ahead of a line of 15 or so people.  Talk about a God thing, that hostess truly blessed us.  So if you come to Ann Arbor and are looking for a great place to eat, go to Angelo’s.  They only serve breakfast and lunch though.

Ron headed back to Indiana and I headed back to Troy that evening.  Lisa Harrison came out and stayed with Tracy Friday night, while I spent the night at home with Drew and Murphy.  Thank you again Lisa, you might not of thought it was that big of a deal but it meant a lot to me.  The next morning was inventory at work and I had to be there by 7AM to get a crew going.   The inventory went very quickly (thanks for helping Milt), but not as fast as Tracy could have got it done!

I returned home to pack up my laundry and tend to a few other things.  Drew and I headed out around 5PM to grab some dinner and to get back to Tracy.  We ended up going to dinner with the Harrisons at Slows to Go and then took Sophie Harrison back to U of M with us.

Sunday was a quick day as Drew had lots of homework and even got up before I did and had his Stuffed Hash Browns and started his homework.  Tracy did not have a sitter that morning so I was her sitter, until 1:30PM, when Drew and headed over to Angelo’s.

Tracy sleep most of the time, but when she wasn’t she was attentive to what was going on, occasionally speaking to me.  I know she hears me, but just can’t say what she wants, or does say what she wants but it’s just unintelligible.  This has been so tough for me because I have always loved to hear her voice.

Drew left late Sunday afternoon to get back in time to take Taylor (his girlfriend) to Josh Roden’s Super Bowl party.

I returned to Tracy’s room and sat with her and watched the Super Bowl myself until 9PM.  I watched the end of the game in my room and was happy with outcome.

Monday was much the same for Tracy; it is just going to be a long process.  I met with Doctors and social workers also on Monday, so it by fairly quick.

Tuesday was treatment 21.  It went really well!  It was the first time that when I returned to her room after treatment that she was awake and recognized me as soon as I walked in the room.

I again met with doctors and talked with an attorney that will be representing us Thursday (today) for a guardianship hearing.

I had a huge surprise visit by Drew Tuesday evening.  He came out to take me to dinner for my Birthday (Feb. 8th) as he leads a small group of 6th graders at church on Wednesday nights.   It meant so much to have him do this for me; it probably was the best birthday gift I could have ever received.

I will try to write tonight about Wednesday and how things went today in court.

God Bless and “Never Give Up… Never Ever Give Up!”
Rob
