Treatment #6 (a little late)

Sorry it has been so long, but I really lose track of time and many other things as we have visitors.

Before I start.  I want to apologize for the Take Them a Meal link not working, but for some reason they didn't want us to eat as we disappeared from their site. :)  But it is back up and running, so head on over by clicking here it wish to prepare a meal for Drew.  Thanks, it means so much to know he is being taken care of.

Friday’s treatment went well.  And once again a nurse made a decision that was huge in Tracy's treatment.

I went with Tracy for her treatment at 7:30AM and returned to the hotel room and went back to bed for a couple of hours.  I always try to get some sleep when I know she is having her treatment as they can last up to 3 hours depending on how she responds to the anesthesia.

I got up and went and did some shopping for the office, but called to see how Tracy's treatment went before I left, as the doctors know how it went before she even is awake.  They said it went very well and that I should not worry, so off to Costco I went.  It is about a half an hour away from the hospital, so I would be gone for 2-3 hours, as a man has to have lunch too, you know.

When I got back to the hospital, Tracy's nurse said I should hurry up and get into the room, because she thought I would like what I would hear and see.  She was right!  Tracy recognized me and said hello to me.  We talked for a while, I talked and she listened and responded appropriately.  Most of the time I can't understand her, as her voice is soft, somewhat high pitched, and most times slurred.  But I could tell she knew what I was saying, by her responses of words, laughter and facial expressions.  Drew called while we were talking to tell me he was on his way to A2 (Ann Arbor).

The nurse came in and told me that when Tracy got back from her treatment she was due for a dose of Ativan, but did not give it to her because she felt Tracy was already medicated enough.  Once again, a skipped dose of Ativan allowed me to get a glimpse of heaven on earth again!  I asked her if she would be able to hold off the next dose until Drew got there and she said she would try, as it was due around 2:30 PM.  I thought that would give Drew half an hour to an hour with Tracy before the drug would kick in.  He was racing the clock and didn't know it.  But God is in control and Drew arrived safely shortly before 2:00.  He got to talk with her for about 15 minutes until the Psychiatry team showed up.  Once again, this was a God thing, because they were able to see Tracy in a lucid state and talk with her, and Drew and I.  We told them about Wednesday night’s skipped dose and how lucid she was then too.  They agreed that we should began reducing the Ativan, but we need to do it slowly as it extremely addictive, and Trace has been on it for 5 weeks.  (Wow! 5 weeks, it is hard to believe that Trace has been in the hospital 6 weeks!)  So they adjusted the dosage by .5 of a milligram to 2.5 milligrams.

It seems to be helping.

That is were I will leave off for now, as I am expecting guests soon.

Stay tuned for the New Year's Blog.

God Bless and "Never Give Up... Never Ever Give Up!"
